Chicken rotisserie in the heart of Liverpool, Koop has a wide range of peri peri chicken dishes, soft wraps, big burgers and dogs, chicken and waffles, and a great selection of thick and tasty shakes. The portions are big, the flavour is massive, and they love chicken at Koop.

The Vibe

The waiting staff are quick to jump up and towards you when you first enter the door – we guess this is because there is so much competition on Bold Street that you have to make a good first impression – and they sure do. The place has a distinct diner feel, with clean tables and a fast turnaround. When you want a thick milkshake and some chicken and waffles, you don’t want to have to wait long for it. One of the narrower Bold Street establishments, they’ve done well to fit in as many tables as they have, without it feeling too suffocating, and the clean counters and bright lights give it that feel of a fresh fast food joint.

The Food

Koop is one of the better chicken diners in Liverpool, so it’s best that we start there with the food. The peri peri on the bone selection can be ordered as a quarter chicken (and the choice of two sides), a half chicken (and two sides), or a full chicken (with four sides). Then, you choose whether you want the medium spice, hot, or the garlic and herb. The TiL favourite is to go with the medium half chicken, with sides of sweet potato fries, and a corn on the cob. If we are after something a little lighter, we might occasionally plump for the Grilled halloumi wrap, with hummus, salad, and fries. If we are in a burger mood, The Smokehouse is great – with a beef burger, deep fried jalapenos, cheese, an onion ring, and BBQ sauce. The range of chicken and waffles are also interesting, offering both savoury and sweet combinations that can mess with your mind and leave you dizzy and in love. The shakes are another part of the menu that get people coming back to Koop time and again. The simple strawberry, banana, and vanilla shakes are good, but they come alive with the Sneaky One (made with Snickers), Naughty Nutella, Mars Attack, and Kinder Bueno.

The Price

The on the bone chicken costs just £7.50 for a quarter and two sides, up to £18 for a whole chicken and 4 sides, which is great value. The chicken and waffle dishes are between £6 and £8, whilst the burgers are all under £11. The shakes are all priced under a fiver, and they’re pretty big in size!
