Situated within the Hard Days Night Hotel and named after Peter Blake - a legend of British pop art and the man who designed the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club album cover - its fair to say that Blakes is steeped in artistic pedigree. That’s a great backdrop for a restaurant, with a light airy space complete with plenty of historic Beatles and Blake artwork pieces.
But does it taste as good as it looks?

The Food & Drink

You’ll be pleased to know that Blakes backs up its artistic association with a range of quality cuisine, so it won’t just be the soundtrack of Britain’s most famous band that you get to enjoy when you step inside.
They served a range of dishes that are a favourite in many British eateries; the likes of sausage and mash, lamb shank, seabass, burgers, roast chicken. What they add, however is a twist of European flavours that not only complement the dishes perfectly, but also speak to the story of the band who started in Liverpool, picked up musical influences from Europe and then went on to conquer the world.
It’s a true underdog story that resulted in musical triumph, and what better way to celebrate than to eat great food surrounded by artwork celebrating these local heroes, some of Liverpool’s most famous and beloved sons?

The Cost

Price-wise, you’re looking in the region of £8 for a starter, £12-18 for most mains, £25-30 for a prime cut of steak and £5 for a tasty dessert option, which is all fair for one of the city’s most popular hotel restaurants.
If you stop by in the day time, they offer an express lunch option where you can get a hearty main and a soft drink for £10, so there are a range of different choices, whether you’re staying at the hotel or just visiting during a day out in the city.

The Bottom Line

If you’re a fan of the Beatles, eat here. If you’re a fan of favourite British dishes with a European twist, eat here.
In short, if you’re a fan of enjoying good food surrounded by musical history, make sure to eat here!
