MacKenzie’s Whisky Bar, namesake of William James MacKenzie, a Victorian industrialist who built railways and roads and is *buried under the pyramid just up the road on Rodney Street, is a real gem of a place that contains lots of whisky.
With an impressive range of Japanese, Irish and Scottish whiskies, we’re still trying to work our way through them all! They have lager and stouts on tap at reasonable prices.
Beautiful fireplaces and chesterfield style leather seating, live football, sports and an outside under-roof courtyard, what’s not to love about MacKenzies?
Grab yourself a window seat and watch the world go by.
*Some rumours state that William James MacKenzie's corpse is said to be sat on a table within the pyramid tomb holding his favourite hand of cards as he was a bad gambler. We can confirm this is not true, as the Pyramid was erected a few years after his death by his brother, whom William left all his fortune to. Just had to clear that up.
